How to Backup, Export, and Restore Your Recipes in Flavorish
June 26, 2026

All your Flavorish recipes are safely stored in the cloud. Keeping your data safe and portable is incredibly important. But if you want to create a secure local backup, or transfer your recipes to a new account, Flavorish makes it painless to take your data with you. In this guide, we will walk you through the step-by-step process of exporting your recipes and importing them back into Flavorish.
Exporting and Importing in Flavorish

Step 1: Initiate Your Export
- Open the Flavorish app and tap the Account tab in the bottom right corner of your navigation menu.
- Scroll down to the Import & export section.
- Tap on Export recipes.
Step 2: Start the Export Process
- A panel will pop up showing your Export progress (e.g., 0 / 652 recipes).
- Tap the green Start export button.
- Important: Keep the Flavorish app open and active while the export runs. Closing the app or locking your screen may interrupt the process. Depending on the size of your collection, this may take a few minutes.
Step 3: Save Your ZIP File
- Once the progress bar reaches 100%, you will be prompted to save your exported data.
- Save the file locally to your phone, tablet, computer, or directly to a secure cloud drive (like iCloud, Google Drive, or Dropbox).
- The file will be named "flavorish-recipes.zip". Do not extract or rename this file, as Flavorish needs the zipped format to read it later.
Step 4: Import Your Recipes Back to Flavorish
If you are restoring your library on a new device or a different account, follow these steps:
- Navigate back to the Account tab and choose Import recipes.
- Tap on Flavorish at the top of the import options list.
- Locate and select the "flavorish-recipes.zip" file you saved in Step 3.
- Keep the app open while the progress completes. Once finalized, you'll see an Import Complete screen.
Frequently Asked Questions & Advanced Tips
Can I import recipes from other recipe apps?
Yes! Flavorish doesn't just import its own file format. As shown in the "Import recipes" screen, we officially support importing your recipe data from other recipe apps, including:
- CookBook
- Mr. Cook
- Paprika Recipe Manager 3
- Recipe Keeper
- Copy Me That
Simply select your previous provider from the list in Step 4 and upload their exported file format!
How long does the export and import process take?
The speed depends heavily on two factors:
- The size of your library: A library with hundreds of recipes containing high-resolution food images can take several minutes.
- Your device's hardware & internet speed: Processing image files locally takes a bit of memory.
Please make sure your device has a stable internet connection and is plugged in or has plenty of battery life before starting.
Troubleshooting: Why did my export fail?
If your export halts or fails, check the following:
- Storage space: Ensure your device has enough local storage space to save the compiled folder.
- App Sleep/Lock Screen: Did your device screen turn off? Ensure your device's auto-lock is temporarily turned off or keep interacting with the screen to keep the app active.
- App Update: Make sure you are running the latest version of Flavorish from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store to prevent compatibility bugs.
